CBSE Class XII results out; pass percentage improves this year

Sreyashi Saha (98.4%) of Jain International tops in Science stream; Nidhi Punyani and Tanmay Chindaliya of Bhavan’s BVM, Civil Lines, are joint toppers in Commerce stream with 97.4% each; Isha Reddy of Bhavan’s BVM, Shrikrishna Nagar, scores 97.2% to top Humanities stream

CENTRAL Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of Class XII examinations on Thursday. The board has uploaded the results on its official website — cbseresults.nic.in or cbse.nic.in. As CBSE has tied up with Google for declaration of the results, this year students found it easier to search their results.

Sreyashi Saha of Jain International School topped from Science stream with 98.6 per cent marks and was overall topper from city. Nidhi Punyani and Tanmay Chindaliya of Bhavan’s BVM, Civil Lines, stood joint toppers in Commerce stream with 97.4% marks each. Isha Reddy, a student of Bhavan’s BVM, Shrikrishna Nagar, scored 97.2% to top Humanities stream.

This year, there was a slight improvement in the result than the previous year. This year the pass percentage has improved to 83.40 per cent from 83.01 per cent last year, an increase of 0.39 per cent.This year also girls outshone boys. While girls secured a pass percentage of 88.70%, the boys scored 79.40%. Both girls and boys improved their results. Last year, the pass percentage of girls was 88.31 while that of boys was 78.99.

The CBSE had conducted the Class 12 examinations between February 15 and April 4, 2019. The Class XII examinations was conducted across 4,627 centres in the country.

‘Regular studies, practice helped me score good’

CBSE Class 12 Science topper Sreyashi Saha was overjoyed on scoring 98.4 per cent. A student of Jain International School, Sreyashi was not expecting her result to be this good. “I was confident of scoring 95 per cent. It was a bit of a surprise that I got 492 marks out of 500 but I am very happy that my hard work paid off,” she said. Sreyashi scored 99 marks in Mathematics, 100 in Physics, 98 in Chemistry, 98 in Physical Education and 97 in English. “Regular studies and practice helped me to score good marks in the examination.

Teachers guidance really helped me to clear all my doubts,” said Sreyashi while talking to The Hitavada. CBSE declared the Class 12 results 15 days early and it surprised every one including Sreyashi. The admission process will commence after results of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary results are out. However, Sreyashi is planning to utilise the time by appearing in various competitive examinations.

“I like to share the credit of my success with my parents who always supported me. Teachers were also equally responsible behind my success. They helped to clear my doubts every time.Without any tuition classes I scored this and just because of my teachers,” Sreyashi added. Her father Shubhankar Saha is in a private job and mother Tapashi Saha is a homemaker. She is planning to select engineering as career. She like listening music and reading books. A former student of Chanda Devi Saraf School, Sreyashi, scored 98.2 per cent in Class 10. “Regular and consistent study will definitely help every student to perform well in any examination. I also did the same and the result is here,”said Sreyashi.


‘Dedication, discipline are keys to my success’

HARD work with dedication and a disciplined life helped Nidhi Punyani score 97.4% to top in C o m m e r c e stream. She is probable topper in the stream from Nagpur. Besides giving credit to her parents and teachers of her success, Nidhi specially thanked her uncle, Anand Madan, a Chartered Accountant. She said, “My uncle inspires me to become a CA. He guided me throughout the year and helped to schedule my studies.” “I plan time for each subject. I think a student should have a schedule for the studies and other works too,” said Nidhi, a student of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines. On distractions by social media, she said, “I am not addicted to social media. I usedWhatsApp to share difficulties in studies with teachers.” Nidhi’s father, Mahesh is a businessman while her mother Pooja is a homemaker. Her elder brother Ashwin is pursuing engineering. Nidhi said sudden announcement of result has left us confused as we have no proper idea about admission for further course,as State Board result has not been announced as yet. Nidhi appeared for Maths Olympiad Examand Commerce Talent Search Examination, while studying for Std XII examinations. Nidhi is aiming for admission to Shri Ram College of Commerce,Delhi University for further studies.

‘Planning priorities helped me score big’

WITH the score of 97.4%, Tanmay Chindaliya shares the first probable topper position with Nidhi Punyani in Commerce stream. However, Tanmay is a bit disappointed with the result as he scored one percent less than his expectation. “I got a little less in English and Economics,” says Tanmay, in low sound. He was a student of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines. Besides academic, Tanmay is more interested in general knowledge and keeping himself updated about the current issues happening in the world. He has taken part in many quiz competition. In the last two years, he has travelled a lot for his quiz competition. He is also a good chess player. “I always planned my time for my academics and general studies. I always gave priority to what was required at that moment. If a quiz was round the corner then I would prepare for it and vice versa,” said Tanmay. Tanmay said that two months preceding the Boards, he spent much more time on honing his weaker subjects. He gave credit of his success to his teachers and parents who have always supported him. His elder brother Rahul has been a constant source of inspiration. Tanmay plans to get admission in Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University. When asked what he aimed for, Tanmay says, “I would like to be a better person.” His inspiration is Acharya Mahashramanji.

“THERE is no secret, you just have to work smart and be consistent throughout the year. Mostly, I studied about 3 hours daily. My teachers and my mother have been really helpful. They never pressurised me,” said Isha Reddy the Humanities topper with 97.2 per cent in CBSE Class 12 examination while talking to The Hitavada. Isha, the student of Bhavan’s BP Vidya Mandir, Shrikirshna Nagar, scored 486 out of 500 in the exam. She scored 95 in English, 96 in Political Science, 97 in Sociology, 98 in Economics and 100 in Psychology. Isha is planning to go on a vacation with her mother. She is planning to get admission in Lady Shriram College in Delhi to study Political Science. Indian Administrative Services (IAS) is herfuturetargetandaftergraduation she will start the preparation. A former student ofBhavan’s BP Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, Ishascored95.4percentinClass 10. Dance is her hobby and she participatedinvariouscompetitions at school level. “Therewasnothingplanned. I was not even waiting for the results,infact,Iwasbusythinkingwhat todonext,”sheadded. After father’s death, Isha’s mother Aparna Reddy who is a Central Railway employee, stood like a pillar behind her. “Ihavegotemotionalsupport from my mother, when I was tensed. Also, she never pressurisedmetoscoregood,which is why I took the board exams ina positivemanner,”Ishastated.
