Collector reviews arrangements for summer

Collector Ankit Anand has swung into action in view of torrid summer. In review meeting he has instructed officers of Women and Child Development to change timing of Anganbadis. Children will remain there from 8 am to 11 am only. Every Anganbadi should store ORS packets to handle any emergency situation. Upper Collector Sanjay Agrawal was also present in the meeting. Next, Collector took information of filling of ponds for sanitation purpose. Water Resource Department (WRD) officers told most of the sanitation ponds have been filled.
 
At some places persons taking summer paddy have drawn water from ponds. Hence water could not reach to ponds in next village. Collector has ordered SDM to take action in such cases. He asked WRD to provide the list of ponds which have not been filled from several years. Anand said such ponds will be resurrected under MNREGS so that water crisis is solved and ground water level nearby is also increased. Collector has asked to compulsorily ensure shed and water where MNREGS workers are working. Apart from this if there is any loss of life due to sunstroke then according revenue circular as per, rule relief amount should be provided immediately. Collector also took information of such villages and wards of civic bodies where hand pumps are out of order. In Dhamdha block’s rural areas number of such hand pumps is 35. PHE officer told optional arrangements have been done.
 
In urban areas having water crisis water is being supplied through tankers. Upper Collector Sanjay Agrawal suggested in tanker supply areas some points should be fixed where water should be stored in big syntax tanks fitted with tap so that even elderly persons should draw water easily. Collector Anand appreciated experiment of misting system in Bhilai Municipal Corporation area. He said voluntary organizations take interest in setting up water kiosks.
 
These should be encouraged to set up water kiosks in important places. Health department was instructed to put up posters giving information of sunstroke (loo) and methods of precaution. Collector Anand inspected today the nala recharge work in Dhamdha block. He visited various villages and inspected tank construction by Water Resource department, repair work of canal/drain along with cleaning, construction of Nala check Dam to increase water level. In village Pagbandhi he inspected construction of Gouthan and discussed with villagers about drinking water, sanitation and water problem and instructed officers for proper action in this regard. He also inspected Community Health Centre Dhamdha. He took information from revenue officers about title transfer, partition, demarcation and pending/disposed cases and instructed to solve these cases in time.
