ICFRE to prepare DPR for rejuvenation of 13 rivers

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has assigned Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) to prepare detailed project report (DPR) for rejuvenation of 13 major Indian rivers through forestry interventions.
 
The task for preparation of DPR of river Narmada has been allocated to Tropical Forest Research Institute, (TFRI) Jabalpur. To initiate the work, a consultative meeting is being organized at TFRI, Jabalpur on May 31. Officials from various central and state government departments viz Narmada valley Development authority, Rani Awanti Bai Sagar Project, Irrigation, Forest, Agriculture, and Tourism Department, Madhya Pradesh State Pollution Control and Electricity Board, Fisheries and Tribal Development Department, Indian Bureau of Mines, Zoological Survey of India, Jabalpur, along with Vice Chancellors, Professors and Academicians from different Universities will be participating in the meeting. Significant dignitaries like Rajesh Bahuguna IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jabalpur, R D Mahala, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest, Jabalpur and Rajendra Rai, Chief Executive Officer, Jabalpur Development Authority will also be present to participate and share their valuable suggestions during the meeting.
