In Nagpur’s scorching heat, parents, students queuing up to submit applications for revaluation

There was a time when the valuation system of State Board was considered a transparent one. But the poor result of HSC in State has compelled everybody to think other way. It is evident from the long queue of parents and students applying for revaluation in the premises of State Divisional Board at Nagpur. Rise in number of applicants for revaluation is directly proportional to the poor valuation. In HSC result the examination of which was conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Nagpur went down to 9th in State by scoring 82.51. Last year it had scored 87.57%. This year total pass percentage for Maharashtra state is 85.88% which is below than what it scored in 2018 which was 88.41%. Result of Nagpur has gone down by 5.06 per cent.

This result reflected in the individual performance of students. Many students expressed shock over the result. They had expected more marks but they experienced vast difference than their estimation. One girl students who scored above 95 in Mathematics and two subjects of Science, scored 72 marks in Physics. There are some students who got less marks in some subjects and more in some subjects. Most of these students have been excellent performers throughout the year.

Frustrated due to the bizarre result, parents have thronged in Board premises to apply for the revaluation with a hope to have some increase in marks. One parents on condition of anonymity told The Hitavada, “Board charges Rs 400 per subject. We have applied for two subjects as we are confident she cannot get so less marks in those two subjects. There are 1,000 people on one day who applied for revaluation. On one day out of revaluation fee, Board has earned over Rs 6 lakh.”

The parent further added that he had not any problem how much Board should earn. According to him Board has ignored the main issue. “When we asked Board people, whether they would return the money in case of rise in marks, they said money is non-refundable. If there is any change then Board must accept its mistake and return the money. But the Board’s response to parents is very much rude which is unacceptable,” alleged the parent.
