TRAGEDY struck a marriage party after its three members, including groom, died after the car they were traveling overturned near Narainpur, Mohlai turn under Maro police out-post of Nandghat police station.

Three more people were injured in the mishap that occurred on National Highway-130 on Thursday evening.

the deceased has been identified as Sangeeta Sahu, groom Shivnath Yadav and driver Taleshwar Sahu. Sangeeta died on the spot while other two breathed their last while under-treatment in a hospital in Bilaspur. The injured have been identified as Kumari Himanchal, Neha and Kamlesh who were under-treatment in Bilaspur. MARO out-post in-charge T R Koshima said marriage party, in Indigo car (CG 10 NB 0981) was heading from Janjgir to Raipur. At Mohlai turning, driver Taleshwar lost the control, leading the car to overturn and plunge on to the road side.

 

The broad-day light incident triggered panic among commuters and local people. Matter was reported to police and subsequently a team of police personnel reached the spot. Sangeeta Sahu succumbed to injuries on the spot and remaining members were rushed to Bilaspur. Two more members died during treatment and remaining three are undergoing treatment. A case has been registered under sections 279, 337 and 304 A of Indian Penal Code, said Koshima.
