Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s son, Anil Shastri (senior leader of INC), who was in the City of Lakes on Saturday, while interacting with mediapersons at PCC office has expressed his views about stalwart Digvijay Singh contesting from Bhopal seat in Lok Sabha elections. Shastri said that he feels naming Digvijay as Congress candidate from Bhopal is good move of Chief Minister Kamal Nath whereas Pragya Thakur, who came from outside and contesting from Bhopal on Hindutva agenda after being fielded by BJP, would be surely defeated by a big margin.

On the other hand, he also targeted former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Recalling an incident when BJP was in power in Madhya Pradesh and Chouhan was CM, Shastri said that around 5 years ago when he met Chouhan after taking appointment regarding pathetic condition of his father’s Lal Bahadur Shastri statue in Bhopal city, he was assured by CM that he would resolve the issue as soon as possible but years passed away but he didn’t keep his promise.

The way he fooled me, he did same with the public in his tenure. Speaking on Modi, he said that Narendra Modi is the mind behind demonetisation and GST (Goods & Service Tax) but they are not seeking votes from people for upcoming elections as they know it very well that people and businessmen are angry on these two moves and will not vote the BJP. After losing in Vidhan Sabha elections in three states, their party has shifted from issues like development and Make in India to patriotism and Hindutva. He added that the Prime Minister Modi is asking to first-time voters to cast their vote for BJP as it will be a tribute to martyred jawans who lost their lives in Pulwama attack which his father Lal Bahadur Shastri never did as Prime Minister when India won 1965 war with Pakistan.
