Police bust cricket satta on IPL matches

Police seized cash of Rs 1.44 lakh, 15 mobile handsets, LED television set, a laptop and record of satta bookings amounting to crores of rupees at a residence in Mahanadda area 
 
A combined team of Special Task Force (STF) Jabalpur and Gorakhpur police busted a high-tech cricket satta on IPC matches amounting to crores of rupees and nabbed two accused. Police seized cash of Rs 1.44 lakh, 15 mobile handsets, LED television set, a laptop and record of satta bookings amounting to crores of rupees at a residence in Mahanadda area under the jurisdiction of Gorakhpur police station, on Saturday.
 
Arrested have been identified as Satbir Singh, son of Ujagar Singh, resident of 874/1 at Chintaman Sahu Colony in Mahanadda and Rahul Shah, a resident of near RTO office in Karmeta. According to STF Jabalpur, under the direction of Additional Director General of Police, STF Bhopal, Dr Ashok Awasthi, STF Jabalpur started a special campaign against IPL cricket satta under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Vinay Prakash Paul and Superintendent of Police, Cyber Cell Jabalpur, Ankit Shukla. During the special campaign, STF Jabalpur received information about operation of high-tech satta on IPL cricket matches at a house.
 
Acting promptly on the information, a combined team of STF and Gorakhpur police raided the identified house at Chintaman Sahu Colony in Mahanadda area and busted a major satta racket. Police team nabbed two accused named Satbir Singh, son of Ujagar Singh, resident of 874/1 at Chintaman Sahu Colony in Mahanadda and Rahul Shah, a resident of near RTO office in Karmeta. Police have seized cash of Rs 1.44 lakh, LED television set, 15 mobile handsets, a laptop, a pen drive and record of satta bookings on IPL cricket matches amounting to crores of rupees. Arrested are being questioned to identify and apprehend other persons working in the network of online satta racket.
 
Gorakhpur police have registered a case against the accused under sections 4(A) of Public Gambling Madhya Pradesh Act – 1976 and 34 of the IPC, while further investigations are underway. The raid was conducted with active working of police team comprising Inspector, Ganesh Singh Thakur, SI, Hemant Pathak, Roshni Narre, ASI, Nissar Ali, Raghuveer Singh, Shailendra Soni, Head Constable, Gajendra Singh Bagri, Veenu K Verghese, Constables, Rajan Pandey, Nirmal Patel, Manish Tiwari, Vinod and others.
