CHHATTISGARH Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not holding any press conference and bringing transparency of his report card to public. He said that demonetisation disrupted ordinary life across the country. The worst hit were those in rural areas, where access to banking and internet is comparatively low. Baghel was addressing a press conference in Bhopal on Sunday. He alleged that now BJP workers are seeking vote in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pseudo nationalism.

No one is talking about real issues and works done in past five years by the BJP-led Government. Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi never spoke about promises made in 2014 as they were unable to achieve any result, he added. Answering to a question, he attacked BJP for having relations with Naxalites. Baghel said that for his government the biggest issue is Naxalism on which they have started work. Citing Jhiram Valley incident, he said that top leaders of Congress including V C Shukla, Nand Kumar Patel and Mahendra Karma were killed and NIA in its probe found nothing.

He also mentioned that despite writing to the Union Government twice to handover probe to Chhattisgarh Government, no substantial action has been taken, adding it was sufficient to prove that BJP has close ties with the Naxalites. Baghel said that Congress always focused on development and is fighting this election with core issues.

Answering another question, he said that his Government will focus on organic farming and agriculture production management to provide benefit to the farmers. He further attacked BJP’s Bhopal-Sehore Parliamentary constituency candidate Pragya Singh Thakur and called her a habitual offender. Talking about Prime Ministerial candidate, he said that public wants transparency in work and his party is quite confident that UPA Government will come to power with Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister after May 23.
