ELABORATE arrangements have been made for peaceful voting under second phase of Lok Sabha elections in seven Parliamentary constituencies of the State including Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad and Betul on Monday. Voting will start at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm on Monday. Second phase of festival of democracy will seal fate of 110 candidates by turnaround from 1.19 crore voters in these 7 constituencies whereas Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered re-polling at Demha polling booth of Sidhi Lok Sabha. Voting will be held on May 6 with second phase of polling in the State. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V L Kantha Rao said, “A total of 50,400 security personnel, including 85 companies of CRPF, 45 companies of State Armed Police Force and State police officers-employees, have been deployed for peaceful voting. As many as 268 Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been formed to deal with any kind of situation. Over 65 inter-state and 153 inter-district check posts coming under this phase have been sealed. More than 8,700 vehicles will be used for transportation of polling teams, sector officers and police force. All polling personnel have been dispatched to polling booths on May 5 by bus,” Rao added.
 
The number of critical polling booths identified in Lok Sabha constituencies in the second phase of the State is 3,208 and more than 3,000 polling stations will be monitored through webcasting / CCTV cameras. In this phase, total 414 vulnerable areas and 737 suspicious persons have been identified. On the day of polling, these vulnerable areas will be specially monitored by sector officers. About 275 queueless booths and 454 all women booths have been prepared during this phase. Total 43 booths will be operated by people with disabilities.
 
Overall 25,821 ballot units, 18,288 control units and 19,050 VVPATS will be used. Two ballot units will be used in Satna, Khajuraho and Rewa as candidates have exceeded more than 16. More than 1,618 Sector Magistrates have been deputed to ensure smooth functioning of 15,240 polling booths. About 3,000 polling booths have been identified as critical and will be monitored through CCTV and live webcasting at various levels. More than 8,700 vehicles will be used in this phase out of which 5,100 vehicles will be fitted with GPS system. In order to maintain law and order, prohibitory action has been taken against 31,847 persons of concerning Lok Sabha constituencies in the second phase of elections in State. In these areas, 62,528 licensed arms have been deposited and 1,267 illegal weapons have been seized.
