Issue of social work students of Kumbhalkar Social Work Evening College is not likely to be resolved soon, as the authorities of RTM Nagpur University (RTMNU) have taken a stand that the decision would be taken only after enquiry was completed. Besides the matter of marking absent students, who had actually completed internal assignments, two other issues of the same college of granting marks to absent students and other are pending before the University.

The students had approached the University authorities and Management Council members on Saturday and also before commencement of the meeting. The issue was raised in the Management Council by Vishnu Changde. He demanded solution to the problem, as the students are losing one academic session. Despite assurances by Vice-Chancellor Dr S P Kane and Pro-VC Dr Pramod Yeole, their problem has not been solved. When contacted, Dr Yeole stated that the students have been marked absent and the University, in this case cannot grant average marks. Proper enquiry will have to conducted and responsibility fixed. Dr Anil Hirekhan, who is holding additional charge as Director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation stated that the issue will be resolved within next seven days. The Director is an invitee member of the Management Council.

The issue was also raised in the meeting of Senate. But the issue could not be brought for discussion. The suggestions made by the members during Senate meeting have not been incorporated in the budget. The issue was also debated in the meeting. Dr Kane stated that Management Council is the final authority and can take the decision on it. His reply, however, did not satisfy the members, the sources at the University have stated. The proceedings of the meetings are now audio recorded. A Senate member Adv Manmohan Bajpai had demanded the audio-recording. However, he has not been supplied the recording. One of the Management Council members also demanded copies of the minutes and stated that since his election, he has not been supplied minutes of any meeting.

The issue of reducing expenditure on security guards also was raised. During discussion on the budget in the Senate meeting, it was suggested that the expenditure should be reduced to Rs 2.50 crore. However, it was not included in the budget which was presented in the Management Council on Monday. KANHAN LAND: The Railway authorities has demanded a portion of the University land for its developmental works. The land has been encroached upon by Khandelwal School.

The portion which has been requisitioned by the Railways is not encroached. The University wants the Railway authorities to remove entire encroachment and take possession of the land. The issue will be discussed further, before the land is finally handed over to the Railways. The case of encroachment by the school is being fought in the court of law. The Management Council finalised nominations on various bodies. The meeting was adjourned and will now be held in the month of June.
