On way to job interview, young girl knocked dead by speeding truck

TRAGEDY struck the family of a young girl, who was on her way to HDFC Bank for an interview, after she was knocked dead by a speeding truck near Bhilgaon old Octroi Post No 2, Kamptee Road in Jaripatka area Tuesday morning. The trucker ran away leaving his vehicle at the spot fearing public wrath. The deceased, Aparajita Narendra Borkar (21) was a resident of Santaji Nagar, Ward No 5, near Dharmaraj School, Kandri, Kanhan.
 
Aparajita, who had received an interview call from HDFC Bank recently, was coming towards the city from Kamptee direction on her Honda Activa (MH-40/AS-5240) around 11.30 am. In front of old Bhilgaon Octroi post, a recklessy-driven truck (MH-33/4500) hit Aparajita’s scooterette from behind killing her on the spot. Truck driver Harpinder Singh Sandhu(27),a resident of Khairi, near bus stand, fled the spot leaving his vehicle abandoned at the spot fearing public violence.
 
Following a complaint lodged by Pradyumna Borkar (23), elder brother of the deceased, Jaripatka Police registered an offence under Sections 279 and 304 (A) of the IPC against the trucker. Later, accused driver Harpinder Singh surrendered before the police.
