Patients at Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (BRAMH) are running from pillar to post for drinking water as the water cooling machine has gone out of order at a time when summer is at its peak and consumption of water has increased. Hospital administration is planning to order water tankers from Raipur Municipal Corporation. It was observed that consumption of water has increased in summer, due to which the available drinking water seems to be insufficient for patients and their attendants at the hospital. Water cooling machine installed before ward number 19 on second floor and before ward number 12 on first floor has all gone dry.

Wash-room at ward number 12 was running out of water due to which patients could not use toilets. Water coolers installed in the ward were without water. Due to which the patients are experiencing a horrifying time. Moreover, two water cooling machines placed at the ground floor have also developed a technical snag. The only working water cooler is placed near blood bank in first floor. Due to constant withdrawal of water the machine was not able to supply cold water.

At present there are 405 water coolers in the hospital installed in different wards. Dr Vivek Choudhary, Superintendent of Hospital informed that this year due to construction work being carried out in hospital premises there is shortage of water. He said that the hospital management is planning to order water tankers to overcome the problem of water and that more water coolers will also be installed in the hospital. Technical staffs were ordered to repair the water cooling machines, so that the patients and their attendants do not suffer. Attendant of a patient informed that they are forced to drink hot water and it’s really difficult for them and also for patients hopefully the hospital management will soon take some decisions to overcome this problem.
