TWO passengers got down from Air Arabia flight that landed at Nagpur’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at 4.15 am on Thursday. The team of Customs officials sensed something fishy in their movements. The scanner through which they passed, gave some indication so the officers checked the passengers but nothing was found. Customs officers were perturbed. They grilled them aggressively and finally both the passengers opened up.

The truth that came out shocked everybody present there. The two fellows got operated to hide gold inside their body in the rectum. The gold weighing 873 gram was estimated to be worth Rs 25 lakh. Before putting inside the rectum they had converted the gold into paste. Much to the surprise of customs officials, both passengers were not related to each other. The two passengers - Diwan Syed Ismail, a resident of Tamil Nadu and Abdul Rehman Abdul Latif, a resident of Mumbai boarded Air Arabia flight from Sharjah. The flight reached Nagpur airport early in the morning. As usual both the passengers had to clear security check where the scanner gave indication.

The Customs officers and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) developed suspicion for both of them. When they checked, nothing was found in their bags or in clothes. After the scanner’s indication, the officers grilled both the passengers. Finally both revealed that they hid the gold in their rectum.

While 417 gram gold was found with Diwan Syyed, 456 gram of this precious metal was lying in the rectum of Abdul Rehman. Since the gold in possession of both passengers was more than the prescribed limit they discovered the novel idea to hide the gold. Both were arrested but no official was clear about the action to be taken against the passengers.
