Very strong support behind complaint against CJI: BCI

THE Bar Council of India (BCI) has opined that there was “something fishy” in the harassment allegations levelled by a former employee of the Supreme Court against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi. In a statement directed to members of legal fraternity, judges and people of the country, the BCI claimed that there was some very strong support behind the complaint against the CJI. “The common man of the country is not a fool. Mass was/is realising that there was/is some very strong backing/support behind the complaint against Chief Justice of India and complainant was/is not at all a simple lady,” the BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra stated on Monday. One should not doubt the decision of three-judge in-house Committee of the Supreme Court, the council stated.
Complainant seeks copy of probe report

A WOMAN who accused Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi of harassment on Tuesday asked the apex court’s in-house probe committee for a copy of the report giving a clean chit to the CJI on all charges. “I have a right to know how, why and on what basis have your Lordships found my complaint to have ‘no substance’,” the complainant said, adding she was “deeply shocked” on the outcome of the committee’s findings. “Ample corroborative evidence and clear, consistent statement, the Committee has found no substance,” she said.
Women among 55 protesters detained for staging protest
NEW DELHI:
FIFTY-five protesters, mostly women lawyers and activists, were detained outside the Supreme Court here while they were agitating against the procedure adopted to deal with a harassment case against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi. Gogoi on Monday got a clean chit from the apex court’s In-House Inquiry Committee which “has found no substance” in the allegations of harassment levelled against him by a former woman employee of the Supreme Court.
