Inter-state ATM card cloning gang busted, 3 held

IN A major success, police apprehended three accused of inter-state gang involved in cloning ATM cards and using those cards to withdraw money. All three accused are from Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. The success is an outcome of compliant filed on December 2, 2018, December 3, 2018 and January 13, 2019, at different police stations across the city. The arrest was revealed by SP Jabalpur Nimesh Agrawal at police control room on Wednesday evening. Out of the three accused arrested one is a graduate in Information Technology. About the success it is informed that on December 2, 2018, December 3, 2018 and January 13, 2019, complaints were filed in different police stations including Omti, Adhartal and Garha police stations on the issue of withdrawal of money from ATM card.
 
 
Police took gravity of complaints, accordingly a joint team was constituted comprising SHO Omti Neeraj Verma along with SHO Garha, SHO Adhartal and crime branch. Carrying out investigations in the case, three accused named Bajrang Bahadhur alias Sawan Rajpratap Singh (26), a resident of village Karamchandrapur of Jethwara police station of Pratapgarg district, Sandeep Ajay Kumar Singh (26), a resident from village Bhawalpur of Mandhanta police station of Pratapgarg and Kuldeep Ram Aasarey Singh (23), a resident from village Ashasur of Jethwara police station of Pratapgarh, were arrested. The joint team also seized a Tata Safari, laptop, Swipe machine, 7 duplicate ATM cards and two mobile sets. About the mode of operation of the three accused, it is informed that a highly intricate method was used to make use of spy camera in their mobile while inside the ATM. The entire process to withdraw money from ATM used to be recorded.
 
While the victim remained unaware of the fact that the entire process of withdrawing cash inside the ATM was being recorded. The accused through the recording used to clone the debit card and normally around late night used to ether withdraw money or used to transfer from account to account. At night, people rarely take note of SMS received post transaction. The victim used to get the shock next morning, when they used to see the SMS of transaction. During late night hours, the accused used to make two transaction of maximum Rs 20,000. The joint team of Omti, Adhartal, Garha and crime branch was headed by SHO Omti Neeraj Verma along with SI Rakesh Bhaghel, SI Neeraj Negi from Cyber Cell Nitin Joshi, Upendra Gautam and others. The toil carried out by the joint team has been rewarded as SP Jabalpur has announced cash prize for the team.
