Brahmapuri tigress tranquilised, brought to Gorewada Zoo

The forestmen of Brahmapuri Division tranquilised a full-grown tigress on Friday afternoon. The troublesome feline was shifted to Gorewada Zoo and Rescue Centre, Nagpur, on Friday night.

According to information, many man-animal conflict cases were registered this year at villages Parsodi, Tukum, Navegaon Khurd, Talodhi Khurd, Ganeshpuri, Rampuri and Ekara Bhuj falling in South and North Forest Ranges under Brahmapuri Forest Division. Recently, the tigress with her cubs was seen moving in the forest. A few days ago the sit-in agitation was staged the Office of Deputy Conservator of Forest, Brahmapuri, Kulrajsingh. After the agitation, Kulrajsingh had assured the villagers that he would act immediately to provide relief to them by shifting the tigers elsewhere within ten days. The villagers were living in insecured situation b ecause of any possible attack by the carnivore.
 
Following the orders of Nitin Kakodkar,Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), Nagpur, and CCF, Chandrapur, acting on the complaints of villagers of Koregaon, the forest officials of Navegaon Forest Range of Bramhapuri Division swung into action after sighting tigress near village vicinity. Dr Ravikiran Khobragade and field staff members tranquilised the beast and sent to Gorewada Rescue Centre, Napgur.
