A truck loaded with cotton bales was reduced to ashes as it came in contact with live overhead wire near Baburao Madavi College in Desaiganj on Friday afternoon.As per details, a trader from Desaiganj Javed Hussain bought cotton bales from a trader in Amravati. The bales were being transported in the truck (MH – 40/ AK – 6655) to Desaiganj. However, as the truck neared Baburao Madavi College around 3 pm on Friday, it came in contact with overhead live wire and suddenly the truck caught fire in which the truck and cotton bales, collectively worth Rs 20 lakh were reduced to ashes.

On getting information, the fire fighters from Desaiganj and Brahmapuri were summoned to the spot. Police and CRPF team also helped in dousing the fire, but by then the entire goods and truck was reduced to ashes. The loss is estimated to be around Rs 20 lakh.
