Two cops save lives of bed-ridden patients as hospital catches fire

Fire broke out inside operation theatre (OT) of Jeevan Shri Hospital on Friday afternoon. Within no time, smoke spread inside the hospital, starting to choke the breath of patients. However, two cops risked their lives to save the patients and brought out from the hospital.

They came like a angel for patients. Everyone, including senior police officials, hailed the bravery shown by both the cops and decided to recommend their names for award. It was around 2 pm, when cops Sundar and Nagendra received the information that fire has erupted in Jeevan Shri Hospital in Karondh area. Both of them reached and saw the entire hospital was engulfed in smoke and nothing was visible. It was inside operation theatre that fire has erupted. Without worrying for their lives, both cops started to take out patient’s from the hospital. They also called a crane and ensured that a hole is made in hospital wall so that fire extinguishers can jettison water to control the fire. Had they have not acted timely, then casualties could have taken place. When contacted, CSP Nishatpura, Lokesh Sinha told ‘The Hitavada’ that both cops did a commendable job by rescuing the lives of patients of ill fated hospital. There were at least eight patients in general and other wards whose lives were saved by both cops. Fire had erupted inside operation theatre. He added that he will recommend names of both cops for award. In the meantime, common people also hailed the bravery of both cops to save the lives of ailing patients. It took at least an hour for fire tenders to extinguish fire in complete manner.
