VNIT Alumni Association provides battery-operated buses

The buses will ferry parents and students within campus 
 
VNIT Alumni Association has provided a battery operated buses for use within campus for ferrying parents and students, especially girls. The EV was donated by the 1983 batch of erstwhile VRCE. Alumni was represented by Salila Deshpande-Kamat and Vandana Uddanwadikar-Warnekar during the handing over ceremony held at college held on Monday. Vishram Jamdar, Chairman, Board of Governor, VNIT, flagged off the VNIT#1983, as the EV is aptly numbered, in presence of Dr Pramod Padole, Director, VNIT, Dr Dilip Peshwe, Dean, Faculty Welfare, and VNIT Alumni Association Directors-Shashikant Chaudhary, Chairman, Uday Kamat, Treasurer, Joginder Singh Sond, Executive Director, Pramod Pampatwar, Dilip Kamdar, Ashok Agarwala, Manoj Itkelwar, Dr Anjali Dhande-Junghare amongst others.
 
Alumni Association has raised Rs 2.50 crores from alumni sponsors and 1100 plus life members to support entrepreneurship course, setting up of modern laboratories, expanding training and placement opportunities for students, financial assistance to needy students etc. The idea behind donating EV is to promote pollution free technology and moreover the vehicle operates in noise free way and will provide eco friendly, all weather means of transport within VNIT campus. The EV would run 75-80 kms on a single charge (20-25 trips) and carry 14 passenger at a time, said a release issued by VNIT Alumni Association.
