RCOEM becomes region’s 1st self-financed University

Maharashtra State Cabinet on Tuesday gave approval to award the status of Self-financed University to Nagpur’s prestigious technical institution Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM). RCOEM has already received the status of autonomy in 2011. Status of Self-financed University has added one more feather to its cap. This is the first such institution in the region to receive this status. The new university will start functioning from the academic year 2019-20. RCOEM, run by Shri Ramdeobaba Sarvajanik Samiti, first came into existence in 1984 and from the day one it has never looked back. Maintaining top class grade in accreditation by National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC), RCOEM achieved autonomous status in the year 2011.
RCOEM is already running engineering and management courses. After getting status of Self-financed University, it will start courses like Geo-Tech Engineering, Heat Power Engineering, Energy Management etc. It will not only benefit students but also to industries. The University will have 40 per cent seats reserved for the students of Maharashtra. Cabinet approved the draft bill of proposal of establishing university before the State Legislature.
Securing top slot in all types ranking, RCOEM has maintained its quality since long. India Today, Outlook surveys have ranked RCOEM very high among technical institutes in the country. RCOEM has been providing scholarships to the students admitted in UG, PG programme, UG students scoring high marks in GATE, GRE, CAT, GMAT, NET, top 5% meritorious students based on SGPA in each year of every programme, top achievers in sports, cultural, social, extra-curricular activities, students for carrying out research activities, topper of boys hostel and topper of girls hostel. RCOEM has been registering excellent placements in top companies with highest package of Rs 20 lakh per annum. RCOEM provides internship opportunities, start up opportunities, industry oriented curriculum. It has experienced and qualified faculty members with 134 are Ph.D holders.
Some faculty members are from industry to equip students with latest and future industry demand. RCOEM provides incentives to students for research publications, patent filing, participation in consultancy, research projects, achievement in sports, competitions, extracurricular activities. RCOEM gives exposure to live projects, field based assignments, involvement in consultancy, expert lectures by industry professionals, community engagement, internship in industry, industry mentors, industry visits. Institute has excellent sports and extra-curricular activities.
