GLOBAL CONFIDENCE
   Date :15-Jun-2019

THAT the latest United Nations (UN) report ranks India among top 20 host countries in the world for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flows, nullifies negative reports about ease of doing business. The latest UN reports only confirms India’s status as a top investment destination for global investors. That FDI flow grew by six pc to $42 billion during the year 2018 shows the resilience of the Indian economy amidst reports of recessionary trends elsewhere in the world. According to this report India accounted for a major part of the FDI flow in the sub-continent, which is a substantial beneficiary of global FDI flow. Such investment decisions were dominated by the strengths of Indian economy. This is also true about rising trend of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) decisions in the Indian sub-continent. What is welcome about these decisions of global investors is that they are evincing interest in diversified fields which are poised for take-off in near future. No doubt such a global confidence is built on Government’s investment-friendly policy initiatives.
INDIA’S SPACE
THE huge leap India’s space science and technology has taken in the last few years is a phenomenal moment of pride for each Indian worth his salt. The entire gamut of space research is witnessing India’s meteoric rise thanks to the unparalleled efforts put in by our scientists and technologists. Within next five years, India will be a major player in space technology with the launch of its own space station. It is a remarkable step for Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and will catapult India into an exclusive orbit where it can set an entirely new agenda in exploratory technology. This is another shot in the arm after the A-SAT test conducted some time ago in the lower earth orbit. It gave India the right to be among the rule-makers whenever norms are laid down for space warfare. Now with its own space station, India opens a whole new chapter where it will manage the table and rules of the game. The launch of our own space station will be a tribute to those scientists and reasearchers who somehow remain the unsung heroes of a wonderful tale.
