Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) is going to increase the water supply in Wadi area by one hour as many places like Navneet Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Trilok Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar are still facing water scarcity. Wadi Municipal Council (WMC) conducted a meeting with MJP and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials to discuss the water situation in Vena Dam and how the people of Wadi area get water for upcoming 15 days which is most crucial.

“We concentrated on water situation for next 15 days and how we will provide potable water to residents of Wadi area,” said Prem Jhade, President, WMC to The Hitavada. Keeping the demand in mind, MJP has decided to increase water supply in some places in Wadi area by one hours. WMC is providing water tankers in those places where residents are getting water supply once in a week. Water tankers are making 75 trips daily to cater to the demand in these areas, informed Jhade. MJP is supplying 10 MLD water daily from Ambazari lake in which Ordnance Factory Ambajhari is getting the major volume of water while remaining is supplied to Dawalameti and some to Wadi area.

In Wadi area 2,400 houses have water connections which were provided by MJP long back. WMC have a demand of 4,600 more tap water connections and the tapping process will be completed soon, said Jhade. Wadi and OFAJ are facing water scarcity from November 2018 and the situation deteriorated during summer 2019. Residents of Wadi are struggling a lot to get water and the situation is bad in many areas. Wadi and OFAJ normally get water from Vena dam which is situated on Amravati Road. As the dam has dried up residents are facing water crisis. OFAJ administration and WMC discussed the issue with Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule to supply water from Ambazari lake. Finally they are now getting water from the lake but it is not adequate and still they are facing scarcity.
