Accusing West Bengal Government of taking revenge on voters for choosing to side with national interest, Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghachalak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) feared such acts could harm India's success story and also derail it by such vindictive approach. Elections comes and go and sometimes one wins, sometimes one looses and post-elections all group needs to work unitedly for welfare of nation and it's not alone work of swayamsevaks, he reminded further to the audience while addressing concluding ceremony of Third Year Officers Training Course (OTC) at Reshimbagh ground on Sunday.

Aniruddha Deshpande, Akhil Bharatiya Sampark Pramukh, RSS, Ram Harkare, Vidarbha Sanghachalak, Rajesh Loya, Mahanagar Sanghachalak, were also seated on the dais. Carrying forward enmity due to upset results in election is unheard off till today. This he said could hamper coveted position of India on global stage and further it may be damaged if we are to remain divided. Recalling Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's words who had stated that foreign power could rule in our country because we were not united. Thus upward march of India had rattled nations hostile to us and they may exploit such differences in our society and try to derail our forward march.

The nation is on the cusp of becoming a world power, but we must not let down the guard by our silly acts and need to stand united because powers enmical to India's success could exploit such attempts and create divisions in the society, Dr Bhagwat pointed out. In fact, pluralistic nature of our society is our inherent strength but if someone in power takes defeat to heart and victimises people then society has to stand-up. Because nation's interest needs to be guarded by one and all.

What is happening in West Bengal is very dangerous and it’s duty of elected Government to ensure the rule of law is upheld at any cost, Dr Bhagwat commented. A ruler is duty bound to uphold rules and regulations and moreover Constitution is supreme that guides the working of Government and not by follies of any one individual.

Agreed that during elections campaign often gets vicious but once results are out the differences are kept aside and everyone joins hand to work unitedly. However, situation in West Bengal has become dangerous and what is the fault of people, he said and asked does such things occur anywhere? If the ruler strays from the path of Governance, should people need to remind the rulers of their duty, Dr Bhagwat stated further. Post election the elected representatives have to shed their individual or group’s identity and work collectively for protection of religion and nation.

It was sad to see that to win the election, divisions were sowed in society but people of India voted judiciously and ensured that previous Government was returned with many more seats. It is a lesson for all political parties that they no longer can fool the electorate who voted because they believed in work done by earlier Government. Indian electorate rejected the divisive tactics and also did not fall prey to petty politics. But at the same time, the Central Government though have won decisively, they need to put their act together and fulfil promises made to electorate. This is so as expectations tend to increase with landslide mandate, Dr Bhagwat stated while advising the new dispensation at Centre. Further, he said, Constitution is supreme in democracy and nation cannot be driven by follies of a ruler and asked nation to remain vigilant.

Dr Ambedkar in his address to Constituent Assembly had warned of such dangers in future and talked about idea of brotherhood and unity among different cultures. Dr Bhagwat on the occasion also narrated a story from ancient texts to underline importance of character, saying it is of utmost importance without which nothing remains with a person. Same is true for nation also and hence people need not remain mute spectators but should be active participant in this transformation process. Earlier, Deshpande made introductory remarks providing outline into character of RSS that is dedicated to transformation of society into a united group. In our organistion we teach our cadets to work with dedication and sense of commitment. Loya gave welcome address and introduced the guests called from various backgrounds for the concluding programme of third year OTC camp.
