State Govt claims its special initiatives, achievements

Chhattisgarh government on Monday listed out its initiatives and achievements which it had carried out in last six months since it came to power. Addressing a joint press conference while highlighting the achievements and initiatives, Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma and Women and Child Welfare Minister Anila Bhedia said the Congress Government led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel have not only fulfilled its promises made to farmers, tribal, poor and common people, but also have initiated its flagship Suraji Gaon Yojna (Narwa, Garuwa, Ghurwa and Badi) which is intended towards rejuvenating water resources, providing shelter and fodder for stray cattle and generating employment sources through setting up bio-gas, compost units and kitchen garden.
 
 
Minister duo Kawasi Lakhma and Anila Bhedia said that the state government kept its promises made in election manifesto by hiking paddy MSP to Rs 2,500 per quintal and during 2018-19 Kharif season, 80,37,011 MT paddy were procured under MSP at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore. First time in the history of the state, short term agriculture loans of farmers were extensively waived-off and accordingly Rs 11,000 crore was spent to waive-off short term agriculture loans of 19 lakh farmers approximately. Another Rs 650 crore is being spent to waive-off 50 percent non-paid loans of non-performing accounts under one-time settlement process.
 
The state government also waived-off irrigation tax worth Rs 300 crore which was pending since last 15 years. The Ministers said under its flagship Suraji Gaon Yojna (Narwa, Garuwa, Ghurwa and Badi), initiative has been taken towards strengthening rural economy. Under the scheme every village has been instructed to keep at least 3 acres government land reserved for gauthan. Already gauthan construction has been initiated in 1646 villages. Establishment of bio-gas and compost plants are in the pipeline. Atleast ten youths from every village have been provided training and employment. Under the Food Security Scheme for the poor, BPL ration card holder is provided 35 kgs rice per month and if the family members are more than five, then rice is provide at the rate of 7 kg per member. The state government has removed ban on registry of small plots, thus easing out the process of selling small plots, a boon for people from middle and lower middle class.
 
 
The state government has decided to withdraw cases filed against local youths who had been working with various chit-fund companies, which had fled from here after cheating people worth crores. Camps are being organized at block level to facilitate investors get back their investments in such companies under Lodha Commission. The state government has also decided to provide 30 years land lease to 1,39,730 families which were residing on encroached land in pucca-kuccha houses ahead of December 19, 2018. Such land leases which had been distributed in-between 1994-2003 but have been cancelled there-upon will be renewed. The Minister while addressing the media-persons highlighted the Congress government’s power bill half scheme, which is benefiting the domestic power consumers while putting burden of Rs 950 crore per annum to the exchequer.
 
In order to provide employment to the youths, recruitment process have been initiated in various posts which include 1345 posts of Assistant Lecturers in colleges, 61 sports teachers in colleges, 15,000 teachers for schools, 800 nurses, etc. The Minister while highlighting the achievements of Congress government stated that soon after coming to power, the state government has initiated process to return 4200 acres land of tribal farmers which was acquired for Tata Steel Plant in Lohandiguda. Many employment oriented initiatives have been taken in tribal dominated areas in Bastar and Surguja for generating employment for tribal population residing in these places apart from increasing tendu patta collection rate per standard sack to Rs 4000. The state is all set to establish Asia’s biggest paper manufacturing plant in Bhopalpatnam in Bijapur district.
