CM assures personal attention in the issue; Medical Education Secretary Dr Sanjay Mukherjee would be talking to State CET Cell Commissioner

Fiasco of engineering admission continued on Tuesday, the second day of process, too. Finally, the process conducting authority State CET Cell stopped the document verification for the day. It claimed that the process would be streamlined on Wednesday but most of the parents and students who had to return home disappointed have no hopes for tomorrow. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told ‘The Hitavada’ that he had taken serious cognizance of students’ plight and would personally look into the matter and resolve the issue. On Monday, students faced lot of problems as link through which documents are to be verified got failed. Admission process to be conducted for BE first year began on Monday. Students were supposed to do registration on-line.

After the registration, students were to visit Setu Suvidha Kendra and do the documents verification. They were supposed to do the process through a link. The scanned documents were to be sent through the link. The link was expected to give a message, ‘Your documents are verified’. Unfortunately, students did not get any reply. Problem continued on Tuesday too. Some Setu Suvidha Kendras were not aware that they were chosen as one of the centres so they were unprepared. Parents called ‘The Hitavada’ office and shared their personal grievances. They were of the opinion that Government should have prepared itself while adopting new system.

“We were told that problem would be resolved soon. Unfortunately the all the phone numbers provided for the parents and students where the enquiry could be made were switched off,” said one parent. One centre in-charge on condition of anonymity informed, “Parents and students gathered in our college and kept asking to whom they should speak for this chaos. We too were helpless. The authority should not have kept any issues lingering. Though we are not at fault, parents and students are likely to carry wrong impression about our college. This will affect our prospective admissions. We are facing server error since morning and rush was continuously increasing.”

After so much trouble finally the authority declared that ‘Document Verification will not take place tody. It will take place tomorrow with or without appointment’. Setu Suvidha Kendra is the concept being implemented by Government for the first time. It will be a centralised one for conducting admission processess of all the profession courses including MBBS. Some officials created doubt over the system and expressed fear that it would hit MBBS admission process too that has not begun yet. When it was apprised to Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Medical Education Secretary, he said he would look personally into it and talk to Surabh Vijay, Secretary of Higher and Technical Education to find out the solution to it. Dr Mukherjee is expected to speak to Anand Rayate, Commissioner of CET Cell to know the crux of the problem.
