Hundreds of tribals from Sehore thronged New Market area of State capital and demonstrated against the alleged atrocities faced by them through the hands of local officials on Tuesday. Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan led the demonstrators and warned State Government that no injustice with tribals would be tolerated. Later, a delegation led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who accepted all the demands.

After meeting CM, when delegation reached among the tribals and informed that demands have been accepted by the State Government, there was no end to their happiness and they lifted Shivraj Singh Chouhan on their shoulders and took out the victory procession. Earlier, when demonstration was about to start, police stopped tractor trolley of tribals at Bhadbhada area. On coming to know about the development, Chouhan himself reached Bhadbhada, snubbed the officials and brought tribals till demonstration venue. He left his cavalcade and sat on the tractor along with tribals. After reaching at demonstration venue, he said that poor tribals have equal right on water, forest and land. He alleged that State Government is interfering on the land belonging to tribals.

“If Government tries to snatch the rights of tribals then we will not spare the Government. If land of tribals is even touched then the consequences would be disastrous,” he added. Notably, hundreds of tribals from Barela caste came from Sehore to do demonstration at New Market to protest against the alleged atrocities faced by them from the hands of Government. He told that poor and tribals has right on natural resources. “Erstwhile BJP government did the work to give ownership of land to tribals but after change of time, state government is doing atrocities against tribals.

Forest Department officials are reaching on the land owned by tribals and are threatening the tribals. In Kamal Nath government, rangers have become dangers. Tribals are being threatened of eviction,” he told. He directly challenged the Government and told that it is working on oppressing policy and fake cases are being filed against tribals and their tractor trolleys are being confiscated. “If Kamal Nath government has the strength then it should take action against big mafias instead of cracking whip on poor tribals,” he told.
