2 killed, 3 injured as dumper hits car

Two persons were killed on the spot whereas three others escaped with injuries after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a speeding dumper near a toll plaza at Sukhisewania area on Saturday afternoon. Such was the impact of collision that the car skidded of the road and fell into the roadside ditch. The car was later pulled by Sukhisewania police while the dumper was also seized. Police said that the deceased were residents of Surkhi area in Sagar district and had come to Bhopal for treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) located in Bagsewania area.
 
According to investigation officer Assistant Sub Inspector Munnalal Uikey, the mishap occurred on Bhopal-Vidisha road at around 12:30 pm. The front portion of the car was badly damaged due to the hit and it fell along the road due to the intensity of the collision.
 
The deceased have been identified as Ravi Shankar Nema (54) and Rambabu Thakur (29). Others who sustained injuries include Krishna Kumar (48) , Brijendra (55) and Rajendra (30). Brijendra is father of deceased Rambabu. ASI Uikey further said that the deceased were returning to Sagar after getting treatment at AIIMS Hospital when the dumper that was coming from the opposite side collided head on and the two persons died on the spot. The injured were taken to Hamidia Hospital with the help of 108-ambulance. The bodies were also sent to Hamidia Hospital for post-mortem. The errant driver fled the crime scene leaving the dumper at the spot and it was later seized by police. Sukhisewania police have filed a case under Section 304-A of the IPC and are now looking for the errant driver.
