Tigress brought to Satpura Tiger Reserve (STR) from Bandhavgarh in March has been finally set free in open jungle of the reserve on Thursday. For past four months, the tigress was kept in an enclosure of STR under strict camera monitoring.

Officials were observing the beahaviour and routine of tigress on daily basis. As the behaviour of tigress was normal, officials decided to set it free in wild. S K Singh, Field Director of STR, said that the tigress was brought to the tiger reserve from Bandhavgarh in March. He said that it is three-year-old tigress and behaving well.

“The tigress is ready for prey and collar ID has been attached on its neck to track the locations and safety purpose,” added Singh. He further said that name of the tigress will be decided soon. At present there are about 20 tigresses and 20 cubs in the jungle of STR.
