60 lakh perform yoga to create record

The fifth International Yoga Day was observed all over the State with much zeal and enthusiasm. Collective yoga was practiced in all district head-quarters, schools, colleges, all urban bodies and village panchayats, where over 60 lakh people participated. The yoga practice in State was recorded by the Golden Book of World Records.
 
The main function was held in Sardar Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in the capital, where 600 school students along with officials, employees and public representatives participated in the yoga exercise.
 
Inaugurating the International Yoga day main function at Raipur, Mayor Pramod Dubey said people all over State practiced yoga to mark the International Yoga Day. The yoga event in Chhattisgarh has been recorded in the Golden Book of World Records, which is a matter of pride for the people. The Mayor said yoga is a science and is the base of healthy body. Yoga is very important for healthy body.
 
Addressing the function, former Minister and Raipur (South) MLA Brijmohan Agrawal said the credit of popularising and establishing yoga in the world goes to India. Today, people in the whole world have not only accepted it but have made it a part of their life.
 
On the occasion, Golden Book of World Records representative Alok Kumar handed over a provisional certificate to Mayor Pramod Dubey stating that in the whole country, maximum number of people participated in yoga exercise at multiple locations in Chhattisgarh. He further added that the actual number of participation in the whole State along with certified documents will be provided at a later stage.
 
On the occasion the dignitaries also released a book “Yog aur Vigyan – Ek Kadam Swastha Jindagi ki aur”. They also felicitated the yoga teachers with citations. Present on the occasion were former Mayor Kiranmayee Nayak, Raipur Commissioner G R Churendra, Secretary (Social Welfare) Emil Lakda, Director Chandrakant Uike, Director School Education S Prakash, Raipur Collector Dr S Bharatidasan, Raipur SSP Sheikh Airf Husen, RMC Commissioner Shiv Anant Tayal, Zila Panchayat CEO Dr Gaurav Kumar Singh, Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission Chairman M L Pandey and large number of senior administrative officials, public representatives, school students.
