Jhiri Safari gets Board’s nod

National Board for Wildlife has given final nod to the ‘Jhiri Safari’ project. Under this project, Jhiri jungle area situated at Kolar Road will be developed as tourist spot where visitors will get safari, night-camping and lodging facilities.
 
The area will be developed on pattern of Barrusot and Delawadi under Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary. Wildlife Board has given its consent for the project to eco-tourism board. The safari area will be named as ‘Jhiri Safari’. In this area, tourist will see wide range of animals along with the tigers. Wildlife wing of MP Forest Department has also approved the Jhiri Safari project to be started by July.
 
Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (APCCF) Alok Kumar said, Jhiri Safari project has been approved. The area is enriched with flora and fauna and it will attract tourist in great manner. He further informed that it is about 35 km long safari track being developed in Jhiri area. A popular area known as Kairi Mahadev will be associated with the Jhiri Safari as one of the destination for tourist. For safety purpose, railing will also be prepared from Jhiri to Mahadev Paniwhere tourists can take selfies and enjoy the scenic beauty.
 
To attract the wildlife, grassland and water saucer will be prepared in the area. There will also be guest house, kitchen, watch tower and ticket house facilities. He said that forest committee will be completely responsible to take care of the newly-developed tourist spots like Barrusot, Delawadi and Jhiri Safari. Besides, forest committee will also monitor the guest house, kitchen, camp, etc facilities. It will also develop employment opportunity for forest committees and villagers.
