CM ayes setting up sports university in State, organising National Games

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has given a positive indication to set up a sports university in State and hold National Games, bringing cheer on the faces of office bearers of various sports organisations. A delegation of sports associations of State met the Chief Minister at his official residence on Saturday to get him acquainted with various issues related to sports associations, sportspersons and other stakeholders. Chhattisgarh Olympic Association Vice President Bashir Ahmed Khan said that the delegation requested the Chief Minister to bring CGOA under his control keeping in view National Games proposed to be held in Chhattisgarh in 2020-21.
 
The delegation also urged to make Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium free for hosting National and International Sports events. Gajraj Pagaria also drew Chief Minister’s attention towards this issue. Gurucharan Singh Hora said that Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh had been holding the post of CGOA president which has been a tradition. The delegation urged the Chief Minister for his consent at the earliest, so that preparations for the National Games can be initiated.
 
In response, Chief Minister said that he would consider all the proposals and take necessary measures for the development of sports. The delegation also urged the Chief Minister for release of grants to various sports organisations. Office bearers present in the delegation were Dr A Farista, Rajendra Prasad, Gopal Khandewal, Sahiram Jakhar, Kailash Murarka, Dr Alok Dubey, Kamaljeet Arora, Govind Mudaliyar, Ashok Chudhary, Rampuri Goswami, G P Tiwari, Sameer Khan, S R Soni, Abdul Rahim, Santosh Kumar Dewangan, R K Shrivastav, Ayaz Ahmed Khan, Firoz Ansari, Rajesh Janghel, G Suresh Pillai, Sandeep, Kiran, Kumar Yogesh, Laxman Gurang and Pravin Jain.
