DLSA, Kalyani Cell come to aid of woman

District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) and its Kalyani Cell, taking humanitarian approach in providing help to a widow whose in-laws family have debarred her from family property on the fourteenth day from the death of her husband, instructed Women Police to register case of domestic violence and order to record property in the name of lady. Acting promptly on the complaint by complainant Savita Barma before DLSA mentioning that her husband Santosh Barman resident of village Vardhaghat, Police Station Khamaria, Jabalpur died on June 10.
 
The rituals of Tehravi were performed on June 23. On next day, her in-laws, including sister-in-law, Radhabai, elder brother-in-law and his wife identified as Munna and Mayabai and their son Guddu, sister-in-law Hijjobai and Meena Bai forcefully locked the block owned by her husband Santosh Barman. Santosh Barman had separate house and belonging, which were locked by the in-laws and forced her to leave the property otherwise she would face the consequences and even threatened to kill her. Owing to this inhuman act of the in-laws, the complainant faced a serious crisis as even she was not having any money for further survival.
 
Listening to the complainant DLSA Member Secretary, Sharad Bhamkar, who is also Chairman of Kalyani Cell, a unit constituted for welfare of the aged and widow women’s rehabilitation, in this case related to Kalyani Cell, taking cognizance, sent her to women police station with her letter for further action. He also appointed Panel Lawyer Sheikh Mansoor as counsel for applicant and ordered to file case of domestic violence against the in-laws of Savita Barman.
 
It may be mentioned that, for the destitute women’s welfare, the Kalyani Cell is functioning in the district. In this cell, members are eminent authorities like Additional District Magistrate, Additional Superintendent of Police and other authorities are members of the Cell. The DLSA has initiated a campaign of searching needy women through paralegal volunteers and providing them help. The case referred to DLSA by Paralegal Volunteeer Mala Kapoor on which immediate action has been taken.
