Cyber cops nab fraudster for duping people on matrimonial site

STATE Cyber Police Zone Jabalpur succeeded in apprehending a youth involved in online fraud by creating a fake profile on a matrimonial site. The accused created his fake profile as an NRI on Bharat Matrimonial Site. He then targeted gullible people, developed online friendship with innocent boys and girls and then allured them for marriage by making false promises. He offered a marriage proposal claiming himself to be an NRI in London and in the name of sending cash and gifts from foreign country made huge frauds and duped innocent people, informed Superintendent of Police Cyber Crime Ankit Mishra, while addressing a press conference, on Wednesday.
 
Inspector Vipin Tamrakar, SI Vinita Karosia of Cyber Cell accompanied him. Mishra added that in a complaint filed by a complainant from Jabalpur with the State Cyber Police, Zone Jabalpur office that on her profile in Bharat Matrimony site a youth named Dr Rahul had sent a friend request. After she accepted his request, Dr Rahul introduced himself as a medical practitioner and a resident in London. He offered her for marriage and developed friendship. Thereafter, youth offered to send some cash and gifts for the complainant. Meanwhile, he informed her that in India, during security check he was caught by the security staff for keeping extra cash.
 
This way, the fraudster misguided the complainant and with other allies and cheated them of Rs 2,70,000. Later, a demand of Rs 97,000 was also made from her. She grew suspicious and soon filed a complaint against him. Investigating the complaint, State Cyber Police filed a case under sections 419, 420, 468 of the IPC and 66 D IT Act. In the investigation, information regarding suspicious bank account. According to which accused Pradeep Jatav (32) son of Chunni Lal Jatav, a resident of Bheemnagar, Gwalior, was arrested and taken into custody and further investigations are being carried out to unearth more such fraud cases. In solving the case Inspector Vipin Tamrakar, SI Vinita Karosia, R Asif, R Ashish, R Satyendra and R Raman played a valuable role.
