Accused Santosh Markam is a tradesman cook in SAF Battalion, Narsinghpur
WITHIN 48 hours of incident, Narsinghpur police arrested rapist of five-year-old girl. The accused was arrested with the help of CCTV footage. Police said accused is a tradesman cook in SAF Battalion, Narsinghpur, Santosh Markam. On June 25, a woman reported Stationganj police station that someone had abducted her five-year-old daughter. Acting promptly, massive search was started and the victim was found in deserted area behind the jail. The victim was rushed for medical check-up and was referred to Jabalpur for further treatment. Doctors confirmed that the girl was raped. SP Narsinghpur Gurkaran Singh formed 10 teams to trace the accused. The teams were led by ASP Rajesh Tiwari, SDOP Arjun Lal Uikey. Meantime, cash reward of Rs 10,000 was also declared on the accused.
 
 
Investigating officers took help of CCTV cameras and in one of the footages a man was found with the victim. Police showed video footage to people around the makeshift settlement where victim’s family lives. Major breakthrough happened when ASP Rajesh Tiwari showed suspect’s photo to his driver Rajkumar and gunman Vikram Jaat. They immediately recognised the suspect and told that the suspect is a trade man cook in SAF Battalion, Narsinghpur.
 
 
The suspect was identified as Santosh Markam and was arrested and interrogated by ASP Rajesh Tiwari. Earlier, the accused tried to mislead police but after continuos grilling he broke down and confessed to his heinous crime. ASP Rajesh Tiwari, his driver Rajkumar and gunman Vikram Jaat, played a crucial role in cracking the sensational case. Apart from them, Reserved Inspector Pawan Bagdi, SHO Stationganj Sushil Kumar Chauhan, SHO Kotwali Amit Dani, SI Pooja Baghel and others also played an important role in solving the case. IG Jabalpur has suspended accused Santosh Markam. SP Narsinghpur Gurukaran Singh announced to award police officials who played a crucial role in solving the case.
