Rain lashes Bhopal, rainfall activities to increase in State

A SPELL of moderate rainfall hit Bhopal on Thursday evening giving much-needed relief from humidity. The rainfall lasted for atleast an hour. People were caught unaware by sudden downpour. Bike riders and pedestrians took shelter under roadside trees but they could not save themselves from getting drenched. Earlier, the day was full with humidity. At around 4 pm, the sky was covered with dark clouds and after some time, it started raining. People enjoyed changed weather conditions as they were fed up of humidity.
 
 
As rains lashed the city, people sighed in relief that finally monsoon has reached Bhopal. However, Weather Department said that monsoon is expected to hit Bhopal either on June 30 or on July 1. Rainfall on Thursday evening was pre-monsoon showers. The city witnessed 20 mm rainfall in the State capital. Similarly, Jabalpur recorded 20 mm rainfall followed by 19 mm in Indore. The Weather Department added that monsoon system has lost its steam, hence its advancement is zero in Madhya Pradesh.
 
 
It is expected to move forward when a system will be formed in Bay of Bengal on June 30. Weather Department said that in last 24 hours, rainfall occurred in many places of Ujjain division and some places of Indore, Bhopal and Jabalpur divisions respectively.
Major rainfall figures were recorded in Sarangpur (9 cm), Burhanpur (8 cm), Ratlam and Sagar (7 cm each), Chicholi, Deori, Ghanser (6 cm each), Khachrodh (4 cm), Seoni, Pushprajgarh, Javedh, Badnavar, Jhabua, Thandla (3 cm each). Forecast by the Weather Department says that the rainfall along with thunder activities and gusty winds are likely in some places of Ujjain, Neemuch, Ratlam, Shajapur, Mandsaur, Agar, Indore, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Badwani, Burhanpur, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Katni, Chhindwara, Umaria, Anuppur, Shahdol, Dindori, Bhopal, Raisen, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Sehore, Hoshangabad, Betul, Harda divisions etc.
 
 
Rains are also likely in a few places of Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Panna, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Chhattarpur, Gwalior, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Panna, Sagar, Panna, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Chhattarpur divisions etc. Local forecast for Bhopal says that sky will remain partially cloudy and the city may witness thunder activities.
