Rains bring down mercury

The rainfall on Thursday evening brought down the temperature, which provided great relief to the people suffering due to severely hot weather.
 
 
However, the maximum temperature registered on Thursday was above normal. The maximum temperature registered on Thursday was 38.7 degrees Celsius, which is 6 degrees above the normal maximum temperature. Whereas the maximum temperature registered on the same day in previous year was 31.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded on Thursday was 28.5 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees above the normal minimum temperature. Whereas the minimum temperature recorded on the same day in previous year was 25.5 degrees Celsius.
 
 
The rainfall on Thursday increased the relative humidity. The relative humidity increased up to 87 percent by evening, while relative humidity registered in the morning was 66 percent. The sunset was registered at 7 pm, while sunrise was registered at 5.02 am. As the day progressed, temperature started increasing. The increase in moisture kept the people perspiring throughout the day. Despite presence of scattered, thin clouds on sky, it appeared as if it would be sunny day as before without any rainfall. However, thick clouds started hovering over the city sky by afternoon and brought rainfall in different parts of city. According to the Meteorological Department, a total 12.4 mm rainfall occurred on Thursday. Whereas a total 6.6 mm rainfall had occurred on the same day in previous year.
 
 
The low pressure area has been created over the Bay of Bengal in last few days. However, the change in direction of wind has halted the progress of monsoon towards North Central India. Meanwhile, the winds from Arabian Sea are also bringing moisture, which is creating clouds. The south eastern wind is blowing with speed of 7 to 8 km per hour. According to the weather forecast, rain and thundershowers are likely at isolated areas of division in next 24 hours. Maximum temperature recorded in Madhya Pradesh was 45 degrees Celsius in Rewa.
