2 brave constables, Home Guard foil murder attempt in shootout

TWO courageous police constables and a Home Guard Sainik foiled the bid of killing two men in a shootout at Patan Civil Court premises on Friday. Police have succeeded in apprehending seven out of 10 accused, including a contract killer, within some hours of the incident and seized a revolver and two live cartridges from the killer. The brave policemen caught the contract killer and his two accomplices on the spot of incident after a scuffle with them. Later, police arrested four more accused.
 
 
A man hired a sharp shooter for Rs 2 lakh to avenge killing of his 10-year-old son. The arrested have been identified as contract killer Raja Yadav (19), son of Satish Yadav, a resident of Hanumantal, Dilip Goswamy (20), son of Umesh Puri Goswamy of Amkhera, Vishwanath Kol (24), son of Badri Prasad Kol of Amkhera, Ajay alias Ajju Goswamy (21), son of Jage Goswamy of Chargavan, Vivek Goswamy (21), son of Sehdev Goswamy of Chargavan, Satman Giri Goswamy (50), son of Chandan Giri Goswamy and Ravi Giri Goswamy (21), son of Satman Giri Goswamy, residents of Chargavan.
 
 
Three more accused, including main conspirator Uttam Giri Goswamy, son of Chandan Giri Goswamy of Chargavan, Deepak alias Deepu Jain of Hanumantal and Saurav Vishwakarma of Amkhera are still at large. Superintendent of Police Amit Singh (IPS) disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Friday. He informed that the incident took place when police constables Jitendra Katare, Vijay Soni and Home Guard Sainik Hari Prasad Jharia took three prisoners Mohanlal alias Guddu Tiwari, Mukesh Shripal and Anil alias Annu Goswamy from Patan Sub Jail for hearing of a murder case at Patan Civil Court.
 
 
They were returning after hearing when four unidentified men entered the court premises and one of them opened firing on Guddu Tiwari and Mukesh Shripal. In the five round firing, Guddu sustained a bullet injury on the back of his head, while Mukesh was wounded on his shoulder. Constables Jitendra Katare, Vijay Soni and Sainik Hari Prasad Jharia started catching the accused when one of them opened two rounds of fire on policemen. The daring policemen did not turn back and managed to catch the three of four accused on the spot after a scuffle with them in which constables sustained minor injuries.
 
 
Policemen seized a pistol, two live cartridges and two mobile handsets from the accused. Learning about the incident, Superintendent of Police Amit Singh reached the spot and started investigations in the case. Soon after arresting the accused, police scanned the call recording on two seized mobile handsets and solved entire conspiracy behind the incident and identified other people involved in the conspiracy. SP Singh informed that police held a doubt that only two of the three prisoners were targeted but in the interrogation police learnt that a contract killer was hired to take revenge of brutal murder of a 10-year-old boy named Badal Goswamy, son of Uttam Giri and Mamta Giri Goswamy in Chargavan on April 8. Uttam Giri hired a contract killer named Raja Yadav of Hanumantal for Rs 2 lakh. Raja had purchased a pistol of Rs 30,000 from Bakswaha in Chhatarpur to complete his contract. SP Amit Singh honoured the courageous policemen with bouquets, letter of appreciation and cash reward of Rs 5,000 each.
