Durg District Bar Assn polls to be held today

ELECTIONS for the various posts of Durg District Bar Association (DDBA) will be held on Saturday at District Collectorate premises. Total 48 candidates are in fray for eight different posts and as many as 1,359 voters will exercise their franchisee for the two-year-long tenure of DDBA. The results will be declared on Sunday and Advocate Brijendra Gupta is acting as an election officer.
 
 
Reliable sources informed that total 1,359 voters, including 1,083 males and 276 females, will cast their votes in Library Hall situated behind the old district court building between 10:30 am to 5 pm on Saturday. Meanwhile, the counting of votes will be done on Sunday and initial trends will start coming from 12 noon. The results are likely to be declared on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, the candidates have almost completed their canvassing and have distributed pamphlets, vote appeal cards.
 
 
There is a tough fight between Om Prakash Sharma, Sudarshan Mahalwar and Dinesh Sharma for the post of President and one other candidate Gulab Singh Patel is also in fray. Omprakash Sharma, who has emerged as the strongest contestant so far, has served as Secretary of DDBA from the year 2007 to 2009. Meanwhile, Sudarshan Mahalwar, who is Government Pleader and Public Prosecutor, has also served as Vice-President. Dinesh Sharma was also former Vice-President of the DDBA.
 
 
Similarly, for the post of Senior Vice-President, there is a straight fight between Prakash Dhandore and Rohit Kumar Singh. Three other candidates including Narendra Soni, Ramesh Sahu and Hemant Gautam are also in fray for the same post. Meanwhile, for Junior Vice-President female reserved post, four candidates Puja Mongri, Sadhna Shukla, Hemlata Sahu and Yogita Bali Singh are in fray. The incumbent Secretary of the DDBA, Ravishankar Singh is again contesting the elections for the Secretary post and three other candidates Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Aseem Kumar Singh and Sushil Kumar Singh are also contesting for the same post.
 
 
Sitting DDBA Secretary Ravishankar is getting tough fight from Vijay Kumar Choudhary. Four candidates are in fray for the posts of Treasurer and Joint Secretary. Meanwhile, total 13 candidates including Krishna Raj Chandel are in fray for 6 posts of working committee members. Chandel has served as working committee member twice and he is contesting the elections seeking third consecutive term.
