Mystery shrouds death of Bilaspur girl in Abu Dhabi

IN A HEART rending incident, a gold medalist of Guru Ghasidas Central University (GGCU) and daughter of a senior journalist was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her husband’s house in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. The victim had an estranged relationship with her husband and who, according to her parents, is the prime suspect. The body, after autopsy, has been preserved by Dubai Police and after formalities will be sent to Bilaspur.The deceased Priti Chaddha, daughter of senior journalist Pran Chaddha, was a gold medalist from GGCU.
 
 
After her studies, she joined a Multi National Conmpany (MNC) in Dubai where she was posted in the Human Resources (HR) Department. Three years back, she married Pilot Sindhu Ghosh who also stayed in Abu Dhabi. Since last one-year, the couple developed differences between them. During Eid-ul-Fitr festival, when Priti came to Bilaspur, she informed her parents about the rude behaviour of her husband who also assaulted her on many occasions. She told her parents that Sindhu often came home under the influence of alcohol and in tipsy he became furious. She also showed the injury marks on her body. After staying here for few days she returned back to Abu Dhabi and instead of staying with her husband, shifted to a hotel in Dubai where she rented a room on monthly basis.
 
 
Although, her husband tried to talk to her and settle the issue between them but she refused. On Sunday, she went to her husband’s house in Abu Dhabi to collect her clothes and other necessary things. Later she was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the house. The information of her death was given to her parents in Bilaspur by her husband Sindhu Ghosh. The body after autopsy has been preserved by Dubai Police and after formalities would be sent to Bilaspur to perform her last rites.
 
 
The lawyer of Pran Chaddha said that parents of the deceased can register a complaint with Bilaspur Police under section 188 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC). They have also taken up the matter with Interpol and Central Government to register an offence against her husband and bringing her body back home. When the matter was discussed with Police Superintendent Prashant Agrawal, he said that they were taking legal consultation to take action on the matter. He said that since the incident took place in other nation and the suspect is also of that country, local Police do not have the right to interfere.
