After naming new Chhattisgarh chief, appointment of MPCC president on cards
After the appointment of State President in Chhattisgarh Congress, it is being assumed that Madhya Pradesh Congress may also get new state chief sooner or later. Congress leaders and workers are keeping their fingers crossed and are guessing that who could be the better state president in Madhya Pradesh as already, Chief Minister Kamal Nath has expressed desire to shun the additional charge of State President’s post.

Names of some senior Congress leaders have started to create ripples for the coveted post. Out of many names, one of Home Minister and a tribal leader Balabachchan is also creating ripples for State President’s post. Apart from this, a section of Congress workers want to see former MP Jyotiraditya Scindia as new State President. Scindia supporters are pitching the demand in this regard with strong voice. But they also fear that attempts could be made by opponent camp to scuttle the chances of Jyotiraditya Scindia as even during the Assembly elections, name of Jyotiraditya Scindia was in reckoning for State chief’s post but at the eleventh hour, Kamal Nath stole the show, leaving Jyotiraditya Scindia in a fix and his supporter’s red faced.

Sources said that if due to any reason, Scindia sees that he may not get the reins of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) then he would love to push for the name of his close lieutenant Ramniwas Rawat, who too is finding himself in oblivion after losing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in a row. Apart from Scindia, name of former Leader of Opposition and son of ex-CM Arjun Singh, Ajay Singh is also in the race for State President’s post. After losing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Ajay Singh is looking for his rehabilitation in politics. More importantly, he also enjoys the support of former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh. The air is also abuzz with the news that even a tribal minister from Kamal Nath camp could prove a dark horse. In this regard, name of minister Omkar Singh Markam is being taken in hushed voice. Sources in Congress told ‘The Hitavada’ as a tribal leader has become State chief of Congress in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, hence, now it looks that Madhya Pradesh Congress may also get president from SC-ST section as in Assembly elections, Congress garnered maximum seats in SC-ST dominated belt.
