Fire at Nakoda Group’s dryfruits warehouse; loss pegged at around Rs 25 cr

A fierce fire that broke between 1 am and 2 am on Saturday at Nakoda Group’s dryfruits warehouse raged till Sunday morning, causing damage to the tune of around Rs 25 crore. The fire broke out at dryfruits warehouse of Nakoda Fruit Product Pvt Ltd and Parshwanath Overseas of Nakoda Group at Bidgaon. According to Fire and Emergency Services Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), total five fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire.
 
“We had received the call around 2.50 am on Saturday, and by the time our last fire tender was back to our station after dousing the fire, it was 1 pm on Sunday,” said the duty officer at the department. To extinguish the fire, the wall and shutter of the warehouse had to be broken.
 
The department officals said the the reason behind fire could not be ascertained. A large stock of Almonds, Cashews and other dryfruits was destroyed in the fire. According to them, the estimated loss of property and stock was around Rs 25 crore.
