Crimes against women decrease by 5.51 per cent: Home Minister

Crime cases against women have declined by 5.51 per cent in Madhya Pradesh. As far as rape cases are concerned then in comparison to 2018, there is 3.05 per cent decline in rape cases in 2019. This was informed by Home Minister Bala Bachchan in a high-level meeting convened to review law and order and crime against women.
 
Bachchan instructed to maintain a strict law and order system. He added that police should be sensitive towards crimes against women and simultaneously it should also focus on improving traffic system. It was informed in the meeting that general crime also saw decline of 5.35 per cent in State. There is a decline of 2.75 per cent in murder cases, 9.56 per cent in attempt to murder, 78.13 in dacoity cases, 16.16 in loot cases, 6.07 in thefts, 4.48 in masked burglary cases, 18.86 per cent in sexual exploitation/harassment, 40.69 per cent in riots and 4.94 per cent in other cases. It was told that from the month of January to April, capital punishment has been given in 5 cases which include 4 cases of crimes against women. Punishment has been given in total 1107 cases and 100 criminals have been awarded life term.
 
It was told that objectionable posts on social media are being effectively monitored. Police are alert to take prompt action in any kind of incident. Construction of toilets for women police workers in police stations and DNA labs were also discussed during the meeting. It was told that law and order situation in the state is better. Various religious festivals were celebrated peacefully this year. Law and order situation remained under control during various movements also. It was also informed that four phases of Lok Sabha elections in the state were conducted peacefully. Around 96 CRPF and 107 SAF companies, total 92,000 police force including 73, 925 policemen and home guard were deployed.
 
Meanwhile 77,183 non-bailable warrants were issued. Prohibitory action was taken in 3 57 910 cases. More than 7.66 lakh litre illicit liquor and 9 250 illegal weapons were seized. Principal Secretary Home S N Mishra, Director General of Police Vijay Kumar Singh, ADG CID Rajiv Tandon, ADG (Intelligence) Kailash Makwana, ADG (Crime against women) Anvesh Mangalam and IG law and order Yogesh Choudhury attended the meeting.
