Three masked robbers looted Rs 16 lakh cash from cash loaders of State Bank of India (SBI) on way to deposit the cash in Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in Katol area on Monday afternoon. Shockingly, the cash loaders were carrying such huge cash on a motorcycle. According to police, Logicash Solutions Company has been tasked by SBI for depositing cash in the ATMs.

Two employees of the company - Dhanraj Charpe and Anup Bankar - collected Rs 51 lakh cash from the Katol branch of SBI at around 11 am. They deposited Rs 22 lakh cash in an ATM at Katol and Rs 13 lakh cash in another ATM at Metpanjara village. The robbers targeted the cash loaders when they were going to deposit the cash in the ATM of Bhagirath Textile Company. “Charpe was riding the bike while Bankar was riding pillion,” said police. The robbers came behind on a Pulsar motorcycle and knocked down the cash loaders by hitting their bike from behind.

As they fell on the road, the robbers yanked away the cash bag and sped away from the spot within a second. Staff of Katol Police Station rushed to the spot after alerted by passers-by. The police rushed the cash loaders to hospital where doctors administered them first-aid. Rakesh Ola, Superintendent of Police (SP), Nagpur Rural, visited the spot and questioned the cash loaders. SP Ola informed The Hitavada that Local Crime Branch (LCB) was investigating the case on top priority.

The SP further said that he had issued directives to the banks last year for using a four-wheeler with proper security arrangements for transportation of cash. However, the bank has ignored the directives resulting into the said incident. Satish Rajput, Police Insepctor of Katol Police Station said that special teams have been formed for checking of CCTVs to get a clue. Katol police have registered the case under Sections 392 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.
