Trade union election in BSP on August 2

16,255 BSP employees to elect recognise trade union through secret ballots

IN BSP trade unions election through secret ballots, about 16,255 employees including trainees would exercise their franchise for electing recognised trade union. The election schedule was finalised in the specially convened meeting at HRD Centre, BSP on Monday morning. According to the information, on Monday morning, Regional Labour Commissioner (RLC Central) Shoyeb H Sayyad with Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC Central) convened the meeting of all 12 BSP Trade Unions and authorities from management for finalising election schedule.
 
As per the election schedule finalised in the meeting, the trade union election would be conducted on August 2 and the counting of votes would be held after two hours break following polling. The contesting trade unions would file nomination on June 17 while June 20 would be for nomination withdrawal. In the specially convened meeting election symbol would be distributed on June 25 along with the sample ballot papers.
 
The trade unions those contesting election are Hindustan Steel Employees Union (CITU), Steel Employees Union (INTUC), Ispat Shramik Manch, Bhilai Ispat Mazdoor Sangh, Steel Workers Union, BSP Workers Union, Bhilai Steel Mazdoor Sabha (AITUC), Center of Steel Workers Union (AICCTU), Bhilai Shramik Sabha (HMS), Loktantrik Ispat and Engineering Mazdoor Union, Chhattisgarh Ispat Shramik Sangh and Chhattisgarh Mazdoor Sangh. As per Code of Discipline, all 12 Trade Unions’ active in BSP, completing one year of registration would contest the election.
 
The employees to be superannuated in June and July would be entitled for casting votes in the election. It was also finalised that as many as 23 polling booths including 21 in works area and 2 for non-work area would be set up for smooth conduct of polling. In the meeting the trade union representatives handed over the voter list and in this connection the claim and objection could be submitted by June 10 and after final settlement the final voter list would be issued on June 13.
