Double murder case: Prime accused, accomplice held

TWO including the victims’ closed relative were arrested in connection with the double murder case in which the victim’s body was recovered from Girhola, Nandini and his wife’s body was recovered from Berla in Bemetara district. In the course of investigation it was established that victim Vishnu Sahu (55), a resident of Tikarapara, Raipur was strangulated to death by his nephew Gokul Sahu on basis of confession of the accused and evidences.
 
The investigation also revealed that the woman whose body was recovered from the place located near Lori river in Berla, Bemetara, was identified as Nira Sahu (40) who was the wife of Vishnu Sahu. The police learnt about the body of Nira Sahu after apprehending the prime accused and his questioning. The accomplice of Gokul Sahu was identified as Motilal Sahu, a resident of Singhola village of Rajnandgaon. As per facts recorded in the course of investigation, the prime accused in the case Gokul Sahu had hatched the conspiracy of eliminating the couple about three months ago and waiting for the opportunity. On Wednesday evening, the accused Gokul Sahu managed to convince the couple for attending a family function at his relatives’ place in Urla, Raipur.
 
While unfolding the plan, accused made Vishnu Sahu to drink excessively and took him out in the car on some pretext. After traveling some distance Gokul Sahu strangulated his uncle to death with a rope and returned to the venue after throwing the body into nearby fields. He managed to take along Nira Sahu in the car stating that Vishnu Sahu was chatting with friends and that they will pick him up on way home. After leaving the venue Gokul Sahu attacked Nira Sahu with knife and killed with repeated stabbings. In his confession he also told the police that he dumped the body at separate places with the help of the accomplice Motilal Sahu while intending to mislead police investigation and thereby evading his arrest.
 
The police have also recovered all blood stained knife, rope, the car and clothes with victims’ blood on instances of the accused. While elaborating on the motive behind the brutal killings and cting confession of the prime accused Gokul Sahu, SP, Prakhar Pandey said that Vishnu Sahu had owned the pipe and wire factory which was rented to Gokul Sahu against Rs 25,000 payment on monthly basis. Vishnu Sahu was intending for renting the factory to other party while hiking monthly rent. Being apprehensive of losing the profit making business, Gokul Sahu killed Vishnu Sahu and his wife Nira Sahu. It was also recorded in the course of investigation that Nira Sahu was second wife of Vishnu Sahu with whom he had married a few months after the demise of his first wife following illness. After even longtime, Vishnu Sahu was childless and with his second marriage if his wife born the child then he or she would be the legal claimant of the factory or else it would have gone to Gokul Sahu, being the only successor. The police are further investigating to establish facts beyond doubts.
