Four drunken youths killed in fierce collision

Four Durg based youths died on the spot in a deadly road mishap which occurred on Pulgaon Nullah over bridge. Their over-speeding motorcycle reportedly collided head-on with an unidentified heavy vehicle killing them on the spot. The incident occurred at around 2:30 AM on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the unidentified vehicle could not be traced and the police are now verifying the CCTV footage of cameras installed in different establishments on Pulgaon road.
 
The deceased have been identified as Deepak (22 years), son of Chavilal Netam; Sohanlal alias Chotu (23), s/o Ghanshyam Dewangan; Deepak (19), s/o Balkishan Yadav; all residents of Shakti Nagar, Durg and Rohit (24), s/o Panchram Yadav, a resident of Kasarideeh, Durg. Reliable sources informed that on late Monday evening, the youths consumed liquor and were last seen roaming in the locality at Shakti Nagar area. Unconfirmed reports informed that on late Monday night, they again went to the outskirts of the city in search of liquor.
 
While returning back to Durg, their speeding Avenger motorcycle (CG-07 BC-6625) collided head on with an unidentified heavy vehicle on the Pulgaon Nullah over bridge. The outcome of the collision was so strong that the bodies of the youths were found lying 50 to 70 meters away from the spot. On information, a police patrolling party too rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Meanwhile, the unidentified offending vehicle, till then, had fled the crime scene. Sources informed that the deceased youths were in different private jobs.
 
The bodies were later sent to the mortuary for post-mortem while the relatives of the deceased were also informed about the fatal road mishap. When contacted, Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Suresh Dhruw stated that the victims were probably hit by an unidentified heavy vehicle which led to their death on the spot. He added that the collision indicated that the youths were riding the motorcycle at a very high speed. When queried about the offending vehicle, the SHO stated that the unidentified vehicle has not been traced so far and the police is verifying the footage of CCTVs installed on the way. Meanwhile, the City Kotwali Police recorded the deaths as unnatural and further legal proceedings in the matter were in progress.
