6 cars, 42 bikes worth Rs 30 lakh seized from 3 vehicle-lifters

The TT Nagar police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a gang of three vehicle-lifters from whom they recovered 48 vehicles, including 6 cars and 42 motorbikes, worth Rs 30 lakh from their possession. According to the police, in the month of April a three-members gang was found near TT Nagar Stadium and two of them were nabbed while one managed to escape. Police said that in the investigation it was found that nabbed Vikas Kaitvas (32) and Deepak Nayak alias Kaka (55) along with the third absconding accused Vinod Kaithvas alias Mama (45) were involved in stealing of vehicles.
 
The nabbed accused confessed to stealing of three cars from TT Nagar area which were hidden by them in BDA Colony of Gandhi Nagar area and when police reached there, they seized a Maruti Zen car, Honda Shine bike (used for vehicle lifting) and 3 other cars and a bike from here. Police said one of the absconding members of vehicle-lifters’ gang was later nabbed on May 31 from Patanjali colony Gandhi Nagar who was identified as Vinod Kaitvas. The nabbed was third gang member of the vehicle lifter gang who went absconding while two were nabbed by police.
 
Vinod revealed that he along with the two already nabbed accused was active in city from around past 6-7 months and targeted different parts of the state capital. From his possession police have recovered a car and 11 motorbikes. Deepak is a murder accused and was arrested by Bagsewania police and he came out from jail in 2016 and also booked by TT Nagar police under Arms Act. Vinod Kaithvas was booked by Harda police for rape and murder for which he served jail imprisonment of 10 years. In the probe conducted so far by taking them on police remand, till now six four-wheelers and 42 motorbikes have been recovered by the police from their possession.
 
The modus operandi of accused is that after stealing vehicles using master keys, they used to change engine number, chassis number and registration number and would send these vehicles in Timarni of Harda district was selling with the help of the third accused.
