Asserting that the potable water examination report submitted by Health Department has indicated that the main reason of spreading malaria-typhoid epidemic in Marwahi area is due to contaminated water supply, Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) President Amit Jogi has stated that the earlier potable water examination report issued by PHE department is completely a fake one. Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) President Amit Jogi has demanded from the state government to declare medical emergency in the malaria-typhoid epidemic villages in Marwahi area, the State Government should make arrangement of potable water for villagers on war footings and to sanction special fund for the same apart from sending team of specialists with all kind of resources.

Till the arrangement of potable water in affected villages, alternate arrangement of sufficient quantity of water should be made through transportation. He also demanded that the government should take strong action against the officials who had issued fake water inspection report stating it potable and terming the epidemic spread due to heat wave conditions and carry out independent enquiry (non-government) about the epidemic.

Jogi further demanded that since the state government is going through a phase of financial bankruptcy, it should urge the centre for necessary assistance and intervention and finally the State Government should make public both the water inspection reports issued by PHE and Health Department. In a communiqué issued by Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) President Amit Jogi, it was stated that the Health Department had collected samples for testing from villages Marwahi, Semardarri, Bahutadol, Beljhiria, Ganya, Katra, Deoridand, Kumhari, Tikthi, Matiyadand, Prasi, Ratga, Maladand and Lohari and in its report it was found that the samples contained presence of ‘E. coli Bacteria’, 10-20 times more than the permissible limits, which is the root cause of spreading typhoid-malaria in the form of epidemic in these villages. He said the health department has the cure for this epidemic but it is the result of gross negligence on the party of PHE department.
