Yogesh Deshmukh takes charge as new IG of Bhopal

Yogesh Deshmukh, (1995) batch IPS Officer of MP cadre assumed charge as Inspector General of Police (IG) Bhopal (urban range) on Thursday. He took charge from IG Jaideep Prasad, who has been transferred to Railways in the same capacity. Deshmukh is widely considered as a versatile officer due to his efficient working capacities. After assuming the charge from outgoing officer, Jaideep Prasad on Tuesday afternoon later he interacted with mediapersons and highlighted his priorities and said that he would focus to maintain communal harmony in the State capital and for this a meeting would be held with senior police officials to make a work plan for its better implementation.
 
 
He said that earlier when he was holding charge as Superintendent of Police in Khandwa then as a part of community policing, he made Young India Brigade, a team of youths. Same would be implemented here in Bhopal city. Efforts to make citizen free of fear from police would be done to secure their trust of Bhopal police. Answering to a question, he said that with the advancement in the technologies would be used in controlling crime and streamlining traffic.
 
This would prove more accurate and safe for the citizens, he added. Deshmukh said that maintaining law and order in the State capital would be his priority. Every possible effort would be made to check crimes against women and strict vigil would be made in areas where coaching institute and schools and colleges are situated. The action against goons and anti-social elements would be taken continuously. The network of informers would be strengthened. Plan would be chalked out for safety and security of lives and property. Cyber crimes have increased and it requires awareness among the citizens. More stress would be paid in creating awareness towards digital transactions.
 
He said that he would make strategy based on functioning of police officials and personnel working in the state capital and would implement it to yield better results. The police personnel would be encouraged to remain fit which would help them in shouldering their responsibilities in a better manner. IG Deshmukh added that he would ensure better facilities for policemen and at police stations. Regarding shortage of police personnel particularly in the Bhopal district, he said technology, communication advancements and outsourcing were some of the ways that would be used to overcome such deficiencies.
 
 
 
SP (North) Shailendra assumes charge Shailendra Chouhan, who was SP of Shajapur, has taken charge as Superintendent of Police (North), Bhopal, on Thursday from outgoing SP Hemant Chouhan who has been sent to AIG PHQ (Bhopal). He said in order to enhance the confidence, interactive sessions with common citizens of the city would be done to realise them about their rights and responsibilities towards society at large. The incumbent officer said streamlining traffic in old city, maintaining law-and-order and effective curb on drug trafficking in the range would also be on his priorities.
