Congress core panel discusses reasons for defeat in Lok Sabha elections

The core committee meeting of Congress was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Kamal Nath at CM House in the State capital on Saturday. The reasons of defeat in Lok Sabha elections were discussed in detail.
 
The core committee members, including Jyotiraditya Scindia, spoke at length about party’s dismal show in general elections and also pointed out fingers towards reasons responsible for party’s drubbing. While coming out of CM House, Jyotiraditya Scindia told to waiting mediapersons that reasons of defeat in Lok Sabha elections were discussed and deliberation was done on future strategy. It was discussed how BJP should be exposed among public. Rejecting the question that whether discussion was done that who should be new State chief, he told that meeting was focused only on reasons of party debacle.
 
One of the core committee members told on condition of anonymity that farmers’ loan waiver issue cropped up in meeting and it was mused that why farmers have not supported Congress in Lok Sabha election despite Congress government rolled out loan waiver policy for them. Most importantly, discussion focused on EVMs and members also raised fingers on EVMs.
 
They said that Congress didn’t deserve the defeat as it received. Discussion also centred around strengthening the organisation at grassroots. Meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha members Digvijay Singh, Vivek Tankha, Kantilal Bhuria, Rajeev Singh, Surendra Chaudhary, Arun Yadav, Rajmani Patel, Ajay Singh and Bala Bachchan etc.
